The Guys

Last Call was founded back in the winter of 2009, when Ian Tasso, Alexander Tam, Jesse Liebman and Tom Nieradka began broadcasting over the ETIN air-waves. Since then, the fearsome foursome has recruited Ben Barker, a sparkplug who has added a certain spunk and depth of knowledge to the already top-rated Emerson Sports Talk Show.

Each one presents their own strengths - Tam on the board, Tasso at the mic, Tom behind the glass, Jesse on the ice and Barker on the baspaths. Individually, they provide the best sports knowledge in the game.

But together? Together, they are unrivaled in the booth.

Together, they are "Last Call on ETIN."

Ian Tasso: Host, Director: Archive

A Boston diehard through and through. Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins - you name it, he's laughed and cried it. When he's not working at Fenway or the Garden, he's Interning with WEEI, Editing the Sports section of the Beacon, or writing at the Boston Globe.

Tasso hails from the small Massachusetts town of Topsfield, famous for one thing and one thing only - its Fair. But as a weekly writer for WEEI.com and widely renown broadcaster on the Emerson Talk Radio sound waves, Tasso one day hopes to add another notch in Topsfield's belt - producing one of sport's finest journalism personalities.

You can check out some more of Tasso's work on WEEI.com, where he adds work every Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Check out an archive of Tasso's Last Call posts here.

Alex Tam: Co-Host, Audio: Archive

A Denver boy, he lives and dies Nuggets, Broncos and Rockies. After working on the set of TV shows across campus, Tam reeled in the best gig in town - an Internship with the Red Sox.

Since then, Tam has continued his dominance behind Last Call's daunting sound board, filling the show with everything from intense Kevin Garnett sound bytes to hilarious Will Farrell audio clips. But whether he's hand crafting Tasso's famous sports blasts or simply mixing your break tunes, one thing is for sure - Last Call would be lost without their board-master.

Tam has broadened his skills to a behind-the-camera set as well, and joins Last Call producer Tom Nieradka as the cornerstones to Emerson's weekly sports broadcasts; and some day, he just might be the guy responsible for bringing you everyday NFL action in your very own home. Jesse Liebman: Co-Host, NHL: Archive

Anything hockey - you come to this guy. He breathes ice. He lives ice. He eats, sleeps and dreams ice.

This Emerson Hockey star has been a staple on Last Call since it was founded, and has worked to broaden his spectrum outside the ice. Since then, he's become a force to be reckoned with in everything from the NFL to the MLB - but remains a hurricane of knowledge when it comes to anything inside the rink. The man knows everything from the blue line to the red line, from forechecking to backchecking, from a slapshot to a knucklepuck.

Simply put - he makes Gordon Bombay look like a nobody.

Because of that, he's now an esteemed writer for InsideHockey.com as he continues to fill the minds of the weak with the power of hockey. You can check out even more of Jesse's on-ice work from behind the mic on his other Radio Show, 'The Good Old Hockey Show' and their own blog. This fall, look for Jesse taking his talents to the Boston Globe alongside co-host Ian Tasso.

Tom Nieradka: Producer, Tech: Archive

Meet the man behind the curtain for Last Call.

Tom works the bells and whistles - the phones and the dials - everything that gets you, the listener, involved with us. He cues up the casts, he links your calls on-air, and everything in between.

But in his own time, dreams of Jose Reyes, David Wright, and Johan Santana fill this Mets diehard's head. And when he's not thinking Mets or Jets, this NY fan is directing Emerson sports broadcasts like nobodies business.

Everything he does to work Last Call up from its foundation? He does the same for the Emerson sports casts. Him and Tam work together like peanut-butter and jelly. Together, they're brought the Lions' athletics to a new level on camera. And thanks to Mr. Nieradka, Last Call functions like a finely tuned machine each and every Thursday night - something we know you all are very thankful for.

Ben Barker: Co-Host, Marketing: Archive

The new guy. Sort of.

He may have been our new edition behind the mic, but make no mistake about it, he's no newbie to the world of sports. In fact, he may be the only human being who rivals our host with his Boston worship. A Sox fan above all, he knows the inside and out of the basepaths, pitcher's mound and everything in between.

Even so, he'll always be our rookie.

But that doesn't stop him from throwing down with the best of them when it comes to the mound, dirt and outfield grass. He may not be able to name every Red Sox player and their batting average since 1908 (pretty damn close though), but he can tell you the who, what, when and why about everything Sox in the now - and if you're not picking up what he's putting down, he's going to jam it in your face. And that's why we love him. It's no coincidence Last Call's ratings have gone through the roof since the kid stepped in.

You can also check out more of Barker's on air work with his other Radio Show and their blog, Overtime on ETIN. And here's a link to all of Barker's Last Call pieces.

Gabe Souza: Staff Writer: Archive

Meet the newest member of Last Call.

Gabe recently joined the ETIN phenomenon as a full-time writer, bringing his literary expertise as well as unrivaled Sports knowledge to the world wide web.

Souza has been Tasso's right-hand man at the Beacon since early January, and together the two have transformed Emerson's sports page into one that gives the Globe a run for its money.

It was there that Gabe's skills were noticed, and Last Call knew they needed to have a little Souza on their website. The kid has it all - a brain made up entirely of only sports and writing. Not to mention he's just as adept with a camera (photo.net) as he is behind a computer. And to top it all off, he's from the New England area - born and raised in Canada's stepchild, the lovely state of Maine. I mean, what more could you ask for?

How about a booked trip to the Red Sox Spring Training with journalism credentials? Yeah, well, he's got that too. Ladies and gentlemen, Gabe Souza.
